Since its plant-based fabric, is it washable? Will its protection die out after washing it for several times?
Organic fabrics are water friendly, as they are made of no harmful chemicals. It is recommended to do a cool hand wash with silk detergent.
The protection of a UPF wear is permanent as the sun protective properties used in the fabric, are
non-removable. So, its protection power never washes away or die out with several wash. It stays for the lifetime of the fabric.
What is the difference between UPF & SPF?
SPF is Sun protection factor, used for measuring the ratio of sunscreen products and it protects the skin only from the UVB rays (the source of sunburn). Whereas UPF is Ultraviolet protection factor, found in sun protective clothes and capable to block both UVA & UVB rays from reaching your skin & causing any harm.
What is the rate of UV protection in normal cloth?
Usually, a simple white cotton shirt can hardly provide you the UPF of 7 and it gets down to UPF3 when it's wet. A fabric must have at least UPF30 or UPF50 in order to provide a 'Good' protection to your body. So, it is always best to wear only the certified & high rated UPF (UPF50+) fabrics, if you want to be certain about the protection and cope up with any climate.
When does a garment get UPF certification?
UPF textiles go through proper testing and evaluation process before getting approved for certification. First, the fraction of UV light is measured in a lab; to see how much of the light can penetrate through the fabric and it is done by using artificial light source. Then, multiple samples are used to test each and every color of the fabrics, then those fabrics go for various solar tests to perform an accurate UPF testing report. Remember, if a cloth has no UV protection then it will not have a lab test and official UPF rank. As we are committed to a strong and permanent protection, our clothes come with highest rank UPF 50+ certification.
Is Sun protective garments superior to sunscreen?
UPF wear works better than sunscreen, sunscreen only provides UVA radiation protection whereas upf gives UVA AND UVB .also physical protection is unmatchable to a applicaton cream ,when it comes to your skincare. Because, the clothing has more capacity for primary UV protection than sun-blocking products.
